Massage Therapy to Relieve Stress

Massages are considered to be amongst the most popular natural treatments. You will notice that by instinct, you start rubbing, if you have a sore body part. It has been categorized as a beneficial way of maintaining health and helps in treating minor ailments like stress, sleep problems and pains. It has been noticed that the human touch is very vital and this is the base of the massage therapy. Infants who are not touched with care tend to develop a non healthy life in comparison to other kids who are bought up in caring families and demonstrate a better and a healthier lifestyle. Massaging provides a positive way of touching which makes an individual feel healthier. The five most prominent forms of massages which improve the human feelings are as follows:

A lot of people suffer from stiff and tense shoulder arches and necks, further leading to poor body postures and headaches, so you may consider starting massage from these areas of the body, particularly the shoulders. The best way to follow would be start from the left shoulder with the right hand, from below the skull, via the neck and shoulders to the hand for at least 4 times before changing sides. This should be followed by simple circular movements of the hands over the spine with both hands. This should be accompanied by squeezing and pressing the shoulders and upper arms. A good way would be to use your fist like a hammer to stimulate the energy levels. Stroke the hands and the face immediately after this followed by the chin, neck and back to the shoulders. You will observe that a lot of tension and stress has been released from within you.

The legs are another area of concentration for massages, as they can be very effective after a tiring and strenuous lay or even after exercising. Lay your foot flat over the floor and start stroking the complete leg for at least 3 times, before moving on to the other leg. The next area to be massaged would be the thighs which you can knead constantly to improve their shape and texture. Hammering the thighs will be helpful in stimulating the energy levels. In case you have had a long day sitting, this would make you feel really great. Knees would be the next area on which the fingers can be used around the kneecap area. Finally, this should be followed with kneading the calf muscles.

Other great areas which relax you completely are the feet. It is a simple technique and can be done on your own. The best way would be placing the foot between your two hands and stroking the foot a few times, followed by pulling and kneading the toe. The ball and the arch area of the foot should be rubbed with circular motions before you start knuckling the complete foot in the same manner. The final step is the rubbing and stroking of the ankle.

You may even consider going for a hand massage which is also quite relaxing. Stroke and squeeze the hand from all places, followed by the fingers one by one. Hard circular movements around the knuckles and the thumb joints should be the next step. The tendons on the back of the hands can be rubbed with the thumb, followed by palm in same manner. The final step would be to rub the entire hand gently.

Abdominal massage is another vital form as it affects the digestive system and is beneficial in stimulating weight losses. You can start by kneading the waist with the tip of your fingers, followed by the sides. This should be followed by pushing one side of the abdomen towards the other using he flat palms of your hand for at least 10 times.

Thus the therapy of massaging is beneficial for stress relief of an individual.
