Vibrating heat shield, possible front shocks clunking. This is by far the best car for the money. For $11,500 out the door one gets an extremely responsive, very well performing car which is both versatile and gets very good gas mileage. Needs refinements however.

2001 Ford Escort ZX2 from North America - Comments
With a ZX2 depending on the which one you buy, I bought the wrong type supposedly. My timing belt shredded without warning. Which got me stuck 30 miles from my home. They told me that with this car, if the timing belt goes then the 4th valve in the motor goes.

2002 Ford Escort ZX2 review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car? Just had to replace the transmission in it after putting a hole in the housing. Pressure plate and clutch were also replaced.
